As you all know, Kameleon 2.0 has been in development for the past six months. We have hinted about progress, and gotten a lot of people's hopes up. The truth is, the timeframe we keep trying to set for the app is just not conceivably possible with the schedules of the developers. I wish I could spend more time on it, I really do, but school is very demanding right now, and it is for my coworkers as well. As a group, my company has made huge progress in the world of theming over the past few months, creating a way to theme elements at runtime instead of via system file replacement. Because of this system, although it seemed better at the time and still does, we had to rethink a lot of what we already thought was done.
Without any further ado, I will get to the point. § Products is officially canceling the Kameleon project. We will offer refunds and/or Kameleon 1.0 licenses to any of the people who pre-ordered Kameleon 2.0 in the promotion. Please contact us (sales[AT]opt-6.com) about this offer. It's the least I can do for all of the people who have been patient and tolerant of our not-so-steady progress. If you are one of the many designers that has been talked to about including work inside Kameleon, please know that the code is not going away for good. Another developer at another company is considering taking over, and I can direct you to this developer if you are still interested in the project. I repeat: the code base that we have worked so hard on is not going away, it is simply leaving my hands. I cannot provide more information about the exchange at this time.
I'm sorry I couldn't bring you better news, but this had to be explained. § Products is moving on to bigger and better ventures, including xMod 2 (OSX's first extensible tool and preference utility), as well as Pasta, integrated image and text uploading/sharing from your mac to the world wide web. Thank you all for bearing with this company as we learn our own lessons, and progress to bigger and better things.
If you would like more information, feel free to contact us at contact[AT]opt-6.com
Sincerely, Carter Allen and the § Staff
